Who I Help
I help two types of people:
Those who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and
Those who carry it around their waists.
Weight loss isn’t just about losing physical pounds. Many people carry heavy burdens that do not transform into love handles or jelly bellies. Their weight converts into migraine headaches, chronic illness and that constant desire to crowbar your stress-laden shoulders down and away from your earlobes.
Are you a shoulder bearer?
- Can you remember the last time you achieved a state of relaxation?
- Do you define stress as just “the way life is” or as part of your genetically gifted personality?
- Do you blame your stress on your job (or lack thereof), your relationships or the economy?
- Do you think high level stress is necessary for success?
- Have you developed an “over” habit to deal with your stress? Over-eating, exercising, drinking, smoking, spending, working, venting, hoarding, doing?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, it’s time to take back control of your life and lose some of that mental weight. Stress isn’t something that the outside world creates and dumps on your plate without your consent. You play a role in creating it and/or maintaining it.
This is such good news, isn’t it?
Here’s the first step to lasting stress management: Open yourself up to the possibility that everything you do in life is your choice. Including the choice to take care of you.
Are you a waist wearer?
- Do you carry your burdens as extra weight?
- Are you physically uncomfortable in your own skin?
- Do you harbor emotional pain that makes being overweight a “safe” place to be?
- Have you successfully lost weight, but fear that you’ll regain it any minute?
- Does your weight fluctuate based on your life circumstances?
- Is part of your identity based on your mental struggle with your body image?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, it’s time to stop focusing on the problem (your weight) and tackle the reason(s) you don’t take care of yourself in the first place. Learning to love and master your own self care is an empowering process that will give you mental clarity, calm freedom and peace.
Here’s the first step to reaching and easily maintaining your natural weight: Stop dieting and focus on gaining health rather than losing weight.
For those who bear and wear…
It’s probably not a surprise that carrying around stress often leads to carrying around weight. And that downward spiral can get ugly. Stress eating leads to weight gain which leads to stressing about the weight which leads to urgent unhealthy fad dieting which leads to gaining more weight and more negative thinking and stress. You know the pattern.
Undoing the stress/weight pattern is a win/win proposition.
You know the old saying “How you do anything is how you do everything?” It applies here. All “over” habits in one person are generally created for the same reason. Really resolve why you’re perpetually stressed and my bet is that you’ll resolve some of the reason you overeat. And vice versa.
If you “band aid” one, though, it’s likely to reappear in a replacement “over” habit like spending or drinking or whatever your next drug of choice might be.
With coaching, no band aids are necessary! The only thing you’ll replace an unhealthy “over” habit with is something good. Like over-joy or over-laughter or over-happy. (Note: I refuse to work with you if those are the “over” habits you wish to shed.)
Want to shed some of that baggage?
If you answered YES, then I have three pieces of very good news.
- You can reinvent the parts of life that aren’t working for you. While this may seem daunting, take a look at the to-do-list that propels you through the “dailiness” of life. You accomplish hard things every day! You successfully juggle career, family and friends and still find the time to manage things like the laundry, car pools, cooking, volunteer work, soccer snacks and the last minute meeting details. Put an ounce of that energy into this and let the reinvention begin!
- With a coach, you don’t have to do it alone. We will work together as partners to bring health and fulfilled dreams into your life.
- Now is the perfect time. It’s no secret that our world is in a massive state of change, so why not buckle in and enjoy the ride? Reinventing pieces of your life is about embracing change like a child loves a new game.

“How many times have I been stuck and Jennifer has rung the bell of truth for me? More than I can count. She is that rare combination of compassion and precision with a sense of humor that makes it all so much more fun to bear. She has a real gift for seeing patterns of thoughts and behaviors that I am more than happy to release with her as my partner to remind me and hold me accountable. When you are ready to let the heavy stuff go, hire her and get ready for lasting change.”
